Bought the Universal Kit 10008 Brushed Nickle, now apparently 10002, from Home Depot in February. Now the plating is coming off the handle by the set screw. Can not find a replacement without buying a whole Kit

Hi Paul, Unfortunately, we do not sell the individual parts. If you contact our Technical Support team they should be able to help you with getting the correct screws. We have found that the screws that come with the trim kit are normally not long enough to hold the over plate...Read More

Just installed today, product work great. I think some of the negative reviews had to do with installation errors.

Just bought this today at HD. I had not read all these negative reviews before buying, but I got it hoping it would work with my old Moen shower valve that was leaking. There were a lot of pieces included (they give you parts for 2-3 different configurations/valve setups) so i...Read More

Product was not usable because it will not fit tightly against the shower wall. There’s about a 3/8″ gap which would allow water behind the shower wall. Because of the way it’s packaged, once opened it cannot be repackaged for return.

I tried it on two different showers and the face place will not come close to sealing against the shower wall. Would allow water in behind the shower wall. The way it’s packaged I had to tear apart the packaging, is it returnable to Lowe’s without original packaging?

I just bought this item from Home Depot and had the exact same issue as above in regards to the handle. The handle wouldn’t tighten and now the screw is stripped. So I have a loose handle and a screw that I can neither tighten nor remove. Not very happy.

I had the same problem. I bought this at Lowes and tried to install but the middle plate would not snap in per directions and holes did not line up.

Step-by-step instructions

Leaky tub and shower faucets are not on our list of favorite things. But they're relatively simple to fix yourself. With a few tools and the right Danco replacement part, you can fix that leaky faucet yourself. Tools and supplies required: Phillips Screwdriver, Cartridge Puller, Pliers, Needle Nose Pliers, Fine Sandpaper or Steel Wool, Silicone Grease
1
step-1

The easiest way to remove the old Cartridge is to use a Cartridge Puller. Make sure to follow the instructions for the Cartridge Puller, which can be purchased at your local home improvement store. Because Cartridges are unique to specific type of Faucets, you will want to take your old Cartridge to your local home improvement store and use the Perfect Match locator system from Danco or use the online Stem Finder. This system makes it easy to find your replacement.

2
step-2

Next, remove the Temperature Limit Stop, Key Stop, Stop Tube, and the Trim Plate (as needed to access Cartridge).

3
step-3

Remove the Retainer Clip carefully as not to drop it behind wall.

4
step-4

The easiest way to remove the old Cartridge is to use a Cartridge Puller. Make sure to follow the instructions for the Cartridge Puller, which can be purchased at your local home improvement store. Because Cartridges are unique to specific type of Faucets, you will want to take your old Cartridge to your local home improvement store and use the Perfect Match locator system from Danco or use the online Stem Finder. This system makes it easy to find your replacement.

5
step-5

Using Silicone Grease, lubricate the inside of the Valve Body about 1”. Then lubricate the Exterior Rubber Components on the Cartridge with Silicone Grease as well.

6
step-6

Insert the new Cartridge, Hot inlet Left Side, Cold inlet Right Side into the Valve Body with the tab stamped “HC” on top and with the Stem Notch down.

7
step-7

Reinstall Trim Plate with original Screws.

8
step-8

Reinstall the Retainer Clip, Stop Tube, Key Stop, and the Temperature Limit Stop, in that order.

9
step-9

Slide the Handle onto the Stem or Handle Adapter onto the Stem. Do not use Handle Screws at this point. Turn the water supply back on and test for leaks and ensure the hot water temperature is adequate. Be sure not to exceed the maximum temperature allowed by local plumbing code. Finally, secure the Handle with the Set Screw and your project is complete.
