Constantly having to flush a 2nd and 3rd time (sometimes more) for normal uses and I’ve wasted so much time trying to get this set right and it still won’t work correctly. Sometimes the flush is good and quick but mostly it is a slow whirlpool that doesn’t always go down. I’ve had no issues with the main BR which is on the same drainline BTW so there’s no back up / clog that would cause this to fail. Very disappointed but looking at the reviews I can see I’m not the only one.

Of all the home repairs I’ve done, wo...Read Morerking on a toilet is one I hate with a passion because it’s cramped space and a lot of bending over. I gathered my tools and…less than 45 minutes later I was not only done but had everything tested, my tools put away, and the packaging outside in the recycling bin. It’s still early, of course, but this was probably one of the fastest and easiest bathroom maintenance tasks I’ve done in a long time. I kid you not – 45 minutes, start to finish, including clean-up. The actual installation took maybe 15-20 minutes. First, I had to extend the tube on the valve to fit in my toilet. Just pull up the tab, give it a twist, pull the tube extension out, then turn to snap in place. Rather than a nut that requires a wrench, the Danco unit has a plastic wing nut they instruct you to tighten by hand to three clicks. Did so and no leaks. The tank fills fast and the bowl has plenty of water. The actual dual flush valve was a little more complicated but, honestly, not by much. You separate the base and put it in place over the hole that leads to the toilet. Snug it in, then put in a gapper and rubber washer that hold it in place. One thing I read before starting and it’s right there in the instructions – snug, not smooshed. You don’t want to deform the silicone. Next you snap on the top piece and you’re basically done with this part of the install. The button is a bit smaller than a door knob; maybe an inch and a half deep. It has a plastic fitting that you hand tighten to hold it in place. After that, you just snap the control unit onto it. I’m still tinkering with the low flush setting BUT everything works fine. No leaks, fast filling, simple to install, simple to use. I was dreading this job and kept putting it off; turned out to be super easy. I’ll update my review after it’s been in use a while.

    I am a contractor and this product does not work! I have rebuilt dozens of toilets. I have made every adjustment possible and it will not
    Flush effectively. Your not saving water when you have to flush 3 times. I do not recommend.

Naturally though, I installed it on a Sunday and had to deal with the toilet like this for 24 hours before I could talk to customer support about it. Unfortunately, customer service was no help. She suggested I flush the fill valve to dislodge any debris (which I had already done), then she recommended I return the kit to the store and buy a new one as she believes my kit is defective. The entire call took less than 3 minutes and I’m not convinced she knew anything about troubleshooting this product. I’m most likely going to go buy a different brand altogether.

    Now this is NOT an attempt to discourage you from purchasing this kit, it is a quality product; in fact better quality than most others. I am in NO Way a fan of “Low-Flow” in the toilet department, I am a big guy & along with that you get the picture, these are just so...Read Moreme things that I think are important & had I know might have possibly played a role in my decision.
    1st The flushing mechanism: You have to hold the button in throughout the duration of the flush, you can release it once the bowl is empty however I foolishly assumed that once you pressed & released the button you were good to go; this is not the case. The flush actuator is actually controlled by braided steel cable “impressive”.
    2nd There have been some comments on this & similar models about the Zip-Tie breaking after so long of use. Do yourself a favor purchase a pack of heavier duty Zip-Tie’s down the electrical isle you need only 1, I however used 2.
    3rd The plunger that controls the tank refill is held in place by crimping itself to the refill tube mounted in the toilet tank. This is held in place with a clamp that is synched tight with a Zip-Tie (which is included) this needs to be tight enough to hold the plastic housing in place so that the plunger seals the tank water from bowl. It’s a nice simple installation design that serves the purpose & is user friendly, it includes a rubber gasket that fits tightly over the refill tub & helps hold the plunger mechanism in place. But it seems that the included Zip-Tie isn’t as beefy as it could be, I used two 12 inch (I agree that it is overkill but I did not want to come home to a mess one day).
    Pros:
    1st In truth I would recommend it I like the plunger design, the seal is of great quality, I hate the old chain & flapper.
    2nd Quick & Easy installation, it took longer removing the old parts than it did installing the new.
    3rd Three customizable water control options that are simple to set:
    a.) Rate of flow on refilling allows you to adjust the pressure inside the tank with the twist of a knob.
    b.) Simple adjustment for the mount of water used on the number 1 flush setting, for those who like a lot of pressure or for those more concerned with low-flow.
    c.) Simple independent adjustment for the Amount of water used on the number 2 flush setting, for those who like a lot of pressure or for those more concerned with low-flow.
    Lastly my weird wife said that the buttons should be “Yellow & Brown” for easy identification 😉

The second one has failed just short of six years and I now see that Danco has acquired MJSI and reduced the warranty to one year. This means I’ll never be buying another of these, as much as I like them. The fill valves last less than the six years they were originally warranted for and cost 2.5 times as much as a FluidMaster equivalent.
