How to Replace a Shower Arm & Flange

Step-by-step Instructions

Good things also come to those who don’t wait, so don’t wait any longer to replace or upgrade your Shower Arm & Flange. You can even update the finish if you’re ready for a change. It’s a snap actually, and you can do it in no time!

Tools and supplies required: Adjustable Pliers, Adjustable Wrench, Pipe Thread Tape

1

Remove the Shower Head from the Shower Arm by gripping the Shower Arm firmly with Pliers while tightening a Wrench around the Nut on the Shower Head. Loosen by turning counterclockwise. Once loosened, simply unscrew the Shower Head from the Arm by hand. Keep your grip on the Shower Arm with Pliers and turn it counterclockwise to remove from the Pipe in the wall. Remove the old Flange. Remove the old Pipe Thread Tape, Pipe Joint Compound, grease/oil from the threads on the Pipe in the wall and dry thorough

2

Wrapping clockwise, apply 2 to 4 turns of the Pipe Thread Tape to the threads on both ends of the new Shower Arm.

3

Slide the new Flange onto the Shower Arm. Turning clockwise, tighten the new Shower Arm into the Pipe in the Wall with a tool that will not mar the finish. Or you may wrap a cloth around the Shower Arm before tightening to keep the tools from damaging the finish.

4

Turning clockwise, handtighten the new Shower Head onto the Shower Arm.

5

Turn the water on and test for leaks.
